Wine transport: on duty for DIVINO

A piece of Franconia travelling through Germany

The DIVINO winegrowers’ cooperative has been around since the 1950s and stands for “Franconia’s fine wines”. The company is one of the most important pioneers in Franconian quality winegrowing with two locations in Nordheim am Main and Thüngersheim. DIVINO wines are grown by more than 280 winegrowers on about 360 hectares of cultivated land. The focus is on maintaining smallholder structures and creating value in the region.

Quality from the vine to the shelf

To make sure this all goes successfully, all DIVINO winegrowers abide by strict quality specifications, with the vineyards undergoing regular inspections. As well as inspecting the plots themselves, rigorous quality standards are also applied as the grapes are processed further as well as to the wine in the cellar.

DIVINO Franconia relies on Nagel-Group as an expert partner for food logistics to ensure that this Franconian quality continues to be maintained during the journey to customers. Nagel-Group also handles all the logistics processes. Bottles must be protected from rough handling to correctly transport Franconian wine. The wine also has specific storage requirements: Nagel-Group specialises in food, so the wine held in its warehouses is protected from direct UV radiation and temperature fluctuations are preventively managed.

The quality wine is transported at a temperature range between 4-7 degrees Celsius. Cooling is an energy and emissions-intensive process, but Nagel-Group’s sophisticated energy protocols ensure maximum efficiency in safeguarding the quality of DIVINO wines throughout the entire supply chain. As a result, the wines arrive at the customer in the best possible condition.

Nagel for DIVINO

Last year, Nagel-Group transported around 7,200 consignments for DIVINO. This makes the cooperative one of the forwarding company’s largest wine customers out of its Würzburg location. Every day, Nagel-Group transports around 75 pallets of DIVINO wines to a wide variety of recipients.

“Nagel-Group can look back on many years of cooperation with DIVINO Franken. We have maintained a successful business relationship since 1999, side by side with our customer as they have expanded their company,” says Karlheinz Damm, Sales Manager at Nagel-Group Würzburg. Karlheinz Damm has been DIVINO’s contact at Nagel for more than 25 years. “We are thrilled with the dynamic way our cooperation with DIVINO works. Our primary mission is to take care of their entire supply chain process, leaving our customers to fully concentrate on sales, their products and developments.”
