The Nagel-Group opens its transshipment halls for Future Day 2022

At the Wustermark site on Thursday, ten pupils had the opportunity to take a look at one of the largest refrigerators in Germany.

How does food get to the supermarket? For Future Day 2022, the Nagel-Group invited young people to various locations throughout Germany and gave them an insight into logistics. The focus is on career orientation for girls and boys – free from gender and role clichés.

At the Borgholzhausen, Versmold and Wustermark sites, 20 schoolchildren had the opportunity to take a look at one of the largest refrigerators in Germany on Thursday. On around 24,000 square metres of logistics space in Borgholzhausen, foodstuffs are stored in different temperature ranges, transferred and brought to delivery.

Among other things, the pupils toured the Nagel-Group’s largest transshipment warehouse together, had the opportunity to get behind the wheel of a truck themselves and had various informational talks with trainees.

“Logistics is exciting and important. That’s what we wanted to convey today and present the diverse occupational fields in a large company,” says Silvia Naschert, Central Training Manager at the Nagel-Group. Together with the apprentices, Silvia Naschert presented how to start a career in an exciting and future-proof environment.

Every year, around 200 new apprentices start their professional life at the Nagel-Group. Apprenticeships are offered throughout Germany in the following professions: Professional driver, freight forwarding and logistics services clerk, warehouse specialist, dual study programme for Bachelor of Arts (FH / DH) and dual study programme for Bachelor of Arts (FH) in business informatics. In addition, car body/vehicle mechanics, office management assistants, mechatronics technicians, IT specialists and IT specialists are trained at individual locations.
