Digital Delivery Note: Project moves into the next phase and into the cloud

Supply chains are to become more digital and transparent: To this end, the Nagel-Group is participating in the Digital Delivery Note project, an initiative of GS1 and the Bundesvereinigung Logistik. After a successful pilot phase, the project is now moving into the next phase – and onto a central cloud platform. Representatives of the participating companies from the retail sector, producers and logistics companies exchanged views on the initial experiences and the future outlook at a panel discussion at the 28th Trade Logistics Congress in Cologne this week. Björn Hobusch, Head of Business Services at the Nagel-Group, reported on the findings of the Nagel-Group.

The pilot phase has confirmed the advantages and applicability of the digitalisation of the delivery note.

We are in constant exchange with our customers and partners in order to make supply chains more efficient and sustainable. The digitalisation of the delivery note is one of the topics we are actively addressing,” says Björn Hobusch, Head of Business Services at the Nagel-Group. “For this, we have already actively participated in the pilot phase and have been able to gain valuable experience.”

Björn Hobusch spoke about the project with representatives from dm-drogerie markt, Mondelez Deutschland and Dachser under the title “Way Forward – Digital Delivery Note” at the Handelslogistikkongress.

“Through the exchange with representatives from trade, industry and logistics, we were able to talk about new possibilities of the digital delivery note. The expansion of the project into a cloud platform to simplify the exchange of delivery notes and other transport documents between service provider and customer is a goal that is to be realised this year,” reported Björn Hobusch.

The project “Digital Delivery Note” at the Nagel-Group is a cooperation with GS1, BVL.Digital. The pilot phase started in August 2021 at selected Nagel-Group locations. It was tested at the locations Trebur, Groß-Gerau, Borgholzhausen and Reichenbach.

In the next step, all participating companies will now be integrated into a central cloud platform, which was developed cooperatively with T-Systems, and will ultimately also be able to transmit further transport documents via the platform. The cloud thus bundles standardised procedures with information between different supply chain participants. The digital transfer of the access link to the digital documents with the help of a QR code and the simplification of the transfer of proofs of delivery and the shortening of the delivery processes by up to ten days that sometimes goes hand in hand with this are advantages that all project participants emphasised.
