How to apply: Tips and tricks for a succesfull application

Applying to Nagel-Group

We customise our employee selection procedure by basing our application process on the type of vacancy being offered. We aim to fill vacancies with people who best fit the position as well as those who are a good match for us as a company, both in professional and personal qualities. Various tools help us achieve this in both the selection and application process.

Application and selection process for expert and management positions

If a vacancy is for a specialist or management position, qualifications and professional experience matter most to us. We rely on a detailed curriculum vitae (CV) from you to give us as comprehensive a picture as possible during the application process of your qualifications and professional experience. For this reason, a separate cover letter is no longer important to us in most cases.

The selection process for expert and management positions usually consists of a telephone interview, a personal interview and a diagnostic process (assessment centre, personality test, cognitive performance test or similar).

Applications for commercial and industrial positions

If a vacancy is for a commercial or industrial position, qualifications and professional experience matter most to us. We usually get an initial insight into this from a detailed CV and relevant letters of recommendation and certificates. We ask for a cover letter for applications for commercial positions, but not for industrial ones.

The selection process for commercial or industrial positions consists of two steps. The first step is to get to know each other by way of a telephone interview, followed by a personal interview.

Applications for commercial and industrial apprenticeships

Are you interested in a commercial or industrial apprenticeship? Great! All we need for your application are your detailed CV and your latest school reports. If you have already gained any relevant certification, you are welcome to send this as well. We do not need a cover letter though.

If you appear well suited to us on paper, we would take the selection process a stage further and get to know you during a personal interview. We are particularly interested to hear why you have decided to choose us and this particular apprenticeship.

Application for a dual study

Are you interested in a dual study at Nagel-Group? Then we would be delighted to receive your application. Ideally, this should consist of your detailed CV and your latest school reports. If you have already gained any relevant certification, you are welcome to send this as well. We are especially interested in who you are and why you have decided to study with Nagel-Group. We would therefore like to have a cover letter from you in which you explain the particular reasons for your interest in a dual-study programme at Nagel-Group.

If it looks as if you fit in well with us and we fit in well with you, we can get to know each other better at an assessment centre. If you and your talents shine through there, you are only one final interview away from your career at Nagel-Group.

Unsolicited application

Do you want to send us an unsolicited application? We would be very pleased to receive your CV and a cover letter. This should indicate the main areas of activity and the site you are interested in. If we find something suitable for you, we can then get to know each other better in a telephone interview before having a personal conversation.

A complete application consists of the following

  • Cover letter (not necessary for applications in the commercial sector)
  • CV
  • Letters or recommendation and certificates

The application gives an initial impression of the applicant. Therefore, you should always keep in mind when submitting your application documents who will be reading the application and what that person in the company will be particularly interested to know.
Covering letter

Cover Letter

Remember: the application letter should be addressed to the person who is responsible for recruitment. The text should say why you are applying to Nagel-Group as well as why you meet the job requirements and are suitably qualified.
The individualised cover letter tailored to the company should, if possible, be no more than one A4 page. Please indicate the activity you would like to focus on as well as any site preferences you have. This is especially important with unsolicited applications. The cover letter should also include your salary expectations (gross, p.a.) and your earliest possible starting date.

Curriculum vitae

The CV – curriculum vitae – is the most important document besides the cover letter and must always be part of your application. This gives us, as a potential employer, an overview of who you have worked for to date. We are looking here to see detailed information about your previous professional history and your apprenticeship. A CV begins with personal details and contact information (including your phone number and e-mail address). It should also detail other qualifications, core expertise, special achievements and volunteer work. Please make sure that it is clearly structured, in chronological order and that the design is simple and clear.

Letters or recommendation and certificates

These documents prove your educational and professional qualifications. Please enclose all relevant job references and qualification certificates with your application. If you are applying for an apprenticeship, study place or for a career start in our company, we would also like to have a current overview of your grades or your last school report. Please send all your attachments in standard formats, preferably as PDF files (combining all documents in one file if possible), max. 10MB.
