Electric trailer in trial use: Nagel-Group tests pre-series model from Mitsubishi

The Nagel-Group is currently testing a refrigerated trailer with a purely electric refrigeration unit from Mitsubishi. The Japanese manufacturer is developing a trailer that does not require a recuperation or generator axle. The electric trailer achieves the required cooling capacity while emitting less noise than refrigerated trailers powered by diesel units and is CO2 emission-free.

The refrigeration unit itself is powered by a 42kw battery pack, which is located at the rear of the trailer. In terms of weight, this results in only a 40kg payload disadvantage compared to a standard refrigerated trailer with diesel genset and diesel tank.

The trailer is a pre-series model and will be tested by the Nagel-Group over a total of three weeks on various routes in the fresh produce area (Bochum branch).
