Start of construction successful: Nagel-Group develops multi-temp logistics centre for the greater munich area

Schweitenkirchen. 20.07.2022. The Nagel-Group has launched a major project for the southern metropolitan region of Munich. The ground-breaking ceremony marked the expansion of the Schweitenkirchen logistics site, with new deep-freeze halls with a capacity of 13,200 pallet spaces being built by the end of 2023. The new logistics halls are being constructed on a 23,000 square metre site. The Nagel-Group is investing around 40 million euros in the further development of the logistics centre, which is located around 40 kilometres north of the state capital, into a multi-temp facility.

“The logistics centre in Schweitenkirchen is of enormous importance to the Nagel-Group for the south of Germany and the connection to and from Austria. This expansion provides us with completely new possibilities in the frozen food sector, among others,” says Christian Berlin, Executive Director Logistics at the Nagel-Group. The investment is part of a large-scale modernisation project in the company’s site infrastructure. “We have already successfully completed the first expansion projects in Bochum and in Buxheim in the Allgäu region, and further construction projects are about to get underway – and we are constantly on the lookout for other interesting options to expand our network of locations,” says André Pleines, Executive Director Real Estate at the Nagel-Group.

In the Schweitenkirchen industrial estate, the Nagel-Group is already active in the fresh and dry goods sector on 20,000 square metres of logistics and handling space. The Nagel-Group Real Estate Team will manage the large-scale project to expand the frozen food capacities, with completion scheduled for the end of 2023.
