Nagel-Group expands logistics network in Poland: New location opened in Zabrze

Zabrze, 25 September 2025 – The Nagel-Group has officially opened its new logistics location in Zabrze, Poland, marking an important milestone in the expansion of its European infrastructure in the field of food logistics. The state-of-the-art complex covers more than 30,000 m² and offers optimal conditions for efficient, temperature-controlled goods flows.

At its heart is a spacious cross-docking area covering around 8,700 m², complemented by 2,600 m² of modern office space and a mezzanine floor where customer-specific value-added services such as packaging and preparation of goods take place. Flexible temperature zones ranging from 0 to 18 degrees Celsius enable the safe storage of a wide variety of product categories.

Sustainability was clearly the focus during planning and construction: In future, the roof of the facility will be equipped with a 2,500 kWp photovoltaic system, which will cover a significant portion of the energy requirements and significantly reduce the carbon footprint. The concept is complemented by energy-efficient ammonia refrigeration systems with glycol circulation, LED lighting and a heat recovery system. In addition, the e-mobility facility underlines the environmentally friendly approach of the project.

For the approximately 170 employees who work at the site, the Nagel-Group also focuses on modern, employee-friendly structures in terms of architecture and organisation – with ergonomically designed workstations, bright and spacious social areas, and short distances for smooth processes. At the same time, great importance was attached to sustainable solutions: energy-efficient building technology, climate-friendly construction and well-thought-out mobility concepts create a future-proof working environment – for employees and the environment alike.

The new location was realised in close partnership with Polish project developer LemonTree, with whom a long-term usage agreement was concluded for 15 years. The collaboration went beyond pure logistics architecture: social and regional aspects were also deliberately integrated into the planning. The site will also feature open spaces for the neighbourhood, a sports field, catering facilities and exhibition spaces for local art – complemented by a variety of greening concepts that will significantly enhance the quality of life on site. The project thus makes an active contribution to the enhancement of the region, not only in terms of logistics but also in terms of urban development.

Zabrze is in the centre of the dynamically growing Silesian metropolitan region, which has a population of around two million. Excellent connections to the A1 (north-south axis) and A4 (east-west connection) motorways ensure optimal accessibility to all parts of the country and to important European markets. This is complemented by an efficient urban transport axis that ensures fast connections to the surrounding business locations within the region – a clear locational advantage for national and international logistics processes.

The new logistics complex in Zabrze is part of a long-term growth plan: With over 11,000 employees, around 105,000 shipments per day and a turnover of around 2.3 billion euros (2024), the Nagel-Group is one of Europe’s leading food logistics companies. The new location strengthens the European network and creates additional capacity – enabling the company to continue to provide its customers with reliable, sustainable and high-performance services in the future.
