A strong sign for Nagel-Group’s energy world: successfully recertified for the tenth time

Nagel-Group has successfully completed the recertification of its energy management system in compliance with DIN ISO 50001. The certificate is valid until December 2027 and not only confirms the existing system’s high quality, but also marks a special milestone: Nagel-Group has been operating a professional, continuously developed energy management system for ten consecutive years – ever since its initial certification in 2015. This long-standing experience now forms the basis for an efficient, sustainable and internationally recognised energy management system (EnMS) that is firmly embedded in the company’s processes.

The audit included several national and international locations having to successfully pass an on-site inspection, including Achim near Bremen and Groß-Gerau, the frozen food location in Oyten, B + S Logistics in Bremen and the PCF location at Frankfurt Airport. The Austrian Traiskirchen and St. Florian sites were also audited. The certificate confirms the performance of these specific sites which are also representative of the high quality and process reliability of the entire group of companies.

Further development of the energy management system

A key project last year was completely integrating all Austrian sites into the group-wide EnMS, which was implemented following the successful integration of B+S in 2024. At the same time, the system’s digitalisation was further advanced: important technical foundations were laid for precise, data-based energy management with the introduction of the EnMS software and the expansion of measurement and recording technology.

“The successful recertification confirms the strength of our current energy management system and at the same time paves the way for the next steps. We have already created a solid structure, which we will now consistently continue to digitalise and harmonise internationally in order to make Nagel-Group’s energy management sustainable in the long term,” says André Pleines, Executive Director Real Estate at Nagel-Group.

Outlook for 2026

The energy management system will undergo further targeted development in 2026 and be strengthened as part of Nagel-Group’s sustainability strategy. This creates transparency about energy consumption and forms a reliable basis for effectively implementing and evaluating technical measures such as photovoltaic systems, battery storage and the modernisation of refrigeration systems.

At the same time, further development the system itself remains a key focus: we will continue to integrate the Polish locations, expand the measurement infrastructure and further standardise digital processes. In this way, the energy management system will gradually grow into a common framework that coherently combines Nagel-Group’s energy and sustainability initiatives and enables well-founded investment and efficiency decisions.

This ensures the energy management system makes a tangible contribution to the implementation of Nagel-Group’s energy and sustainability strategy. As a connecting and controlling element, it brings together technical measures and ensures that regulatory requirements such as the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) can be reliably met.
