Nagel-Group at Anuga 2025: Efficiency and diversity in temperature-controlled logistics
From October 4 to 8, 2025, the Nagel-Group will be exhibiting at Anuga in Cologne (Hall 7, Booth A9) together with its subsidiaries B+S Logistik und Dienstleistungen and LEAFR. The focus will be on current developments and technologies in temperature-controlled logistics, from flexible multi-temperature storage to sustainable energy and automation solutions.
A key example is the new multi-temperature facility in Nuremberg. The modern logistics center combines automated high-bay storage with different temperature zones, enabling the needs-based storage of a wide variety of sensitive frozen products. A photovoltaic system on the roof, energy-efficient automation technology, and modern fire protection systems set standards in terms of sustainability and safety.

Not all frozen foods are created equal
Whether it’s seasonal ice cream in summer, baked goods during carnival season, or frozen fish: every product has its own ideal temperature zone. With its network in Germany and Europe, the Nagel-Group covers the entire spectrum of temperature-controlled logistics. For example, butter is thawed under strictly controlled conditions and forwarded directly for further processing, fish is stored professionally or preserved using the shock-freezing process.
Increasing consumption, increasing demands
With almost 50 kilograms of frozen food per capita per year, Germany is one of the most important markets in Europe, and the trend is rising. An optimally planned supply chain is crucial to reliably meet growing demand. The Nagel-Group operates 26 cold stores with more than 400,000 storage spaces and an annual handling and distribution volume of around 3 million pallets. Under controlled conditions at -18 °C and colder, all stages of the frozen food chain are seamlessly covered, from transport and storage to value-added services such as repackaging, labeling, and order picking.
Technology and transparency
For the coming season, the Nagel-Group is placing greater emphasis on digital services that enable customers to manage and track their goods even more transparently. In this way, the company combines quality, sustainability, and efficiency, making the cold chain fit for the future.
- Logistikbude: The software solution from Logistikbude GmbH will digitize reusable container management at all 130 locations. Pallets, Euroboxes, and other reusable items can thus be managed in real time—a step that combines sustainability and process reliability. Full implementation will be completed in the first half of 2025.
- Cloud4Log: Together with Aldi Süd, the Nagel Group is testing the Cloud4Log cloud solution, a project by GS1 Germany and the German Logistics Association. The aim is to digitize delivery note processes.
- Book & Claim: A CO₂ compensation model allows customers to improve their carbon footprint even if no alternative drive systems or fuels are available locally. Emission savings from sustainable transport—such as electric trucks or HVO 100—can thus be transferred to other locations in a flexible and certified manner.
- Driver Terminal: Following a successful pilot phase and gradual rollout, the Driver Terminal is now in regular operation at all Nagel-Group locations in Germany. The terminal is similar to the self-service terminals commonly found in fast-food restaurants: drivers can complete their check-in process independently via a user-friendly interface. The multilingual user interface also ensures smooth communication, even in an international context. The aim of the project is to make everyday work easier for both professional drivers and dispatch personnel.
