Focus on innovations, AI and digital trends that was the Nagel-Group Innovation Day 2025

On May 27, 2025, the first Nagel-Group Innovation Day took place at the Digital Hub Logistics & Commerce in Hamburg’s Speicherstadt warehouse district – an inspiring day full of ideas, pioneering technologies and exciting insights into the world of logistics innovation. With a mixture of specialist presentations, an accompanying expo and plenty of room for personal exchange, the day was all about innovation, digitalization and sustainable logistics. Around 100 guests took the opportunity to exchange ideas with experts, partner companies and industry colleagues, learn about the latest developments and discuss innovative approaches.

It was clear right from the start that the future of logistics is digital, networked and sustainable. Nagel-Group is not only focusing on new technologies, but above all on joint further development with its customers. “The challenges facing the industry require more than individual solutions – it needs networked partnerships and an open mindset. The exchange with customers, partners and colleagues shows time and again how much potential there is in digitalization, AI and collaboration,” says Michael Lütjann, CIO of Nagel-Group.

A central element of the day was the presentation of the current innovation cases, with which Nagel-Group provided concrete insights into its digitalization strategy. Among other things, the Nagel Driver Terminal – an innovative solution for driver handling, the Frontline Worker project, which supports warehouse employees in operational processes with digital tools, and the Cloud4Log platform, which acts as a central data hub in the transport process to ensure greater transparency and efficiency along the supply chain, were presented.

In the afternoon, the session “AI in Action – Artificial Intelligence in Practice” attracted particular attention. Nagel-Group presented the Turnover Development Estimator (TDE), an intelligent AI tool that provides predictive analyses for forecasting customer sales. In the area of energy efficiency, an AI refrigeration system control system was presented that makes it possible to intelligently control the temperature in refrigerated warehouses, avoid losses and react specifically to deviations. “Both cases make it clear that artificial intelligence has long since begun to profoundly transform our processes. It is a key driver for efficiency, speed and better decisions in logistics,” says Michael Lütjann.

In the interactive World Café workshop, guests were able to contribute their own perspectives and challenges. The open discussions showed how important the direct exchange between logistics service providers and industry is in order to not only develop solutions, but to think and implement them in a practical way. “What moves our customers must also move us,” emphasized Hendrik Krukow, Executive Director Sales & Marketing at Nagel-Group. “Only if we really understand our customers’ requirements can we work together to create innovations that add value.”

The lecture program was rounded off by the accompanying trade expo, in which several Nagel-Group partner companies presented themselves: among others, Logistikbude, which presented its digital solution for efficient load carrier management, Enerthing, with its IoT refrigeration system control, and Shipzero, a data-driven platform that helps companies to precisely measure, report and reduce CO₂ emissions in logistics.

The Digital Hub Logistics & Commerce in Hamburg provided the ideal setting for the Innovation Day: as a hub for digital innovation, start-ups and established companies, the hub brings together different perspectives – and creates space for collaborations that provide new impetus. Nagel-Group has been a partner of the hub for several years and uses the close cooperation to test new technologies, drive forward pilot projects and transfer innovative ideas into operational practice.

The Innovation Day 2025 was more than just an industry event – it was a lively forum for ideas, exchange and future perspectives. Nagel-Group would like to thank all guests, partners and contributors and is already looking forward to the continuation of this successful format.
