Christmas donation: Nagel-Group donates EUR 50,000 to SOS Children\u2019s Villages<\/h2>\n

Versmold, Hamburg. 23\/12\/2021. Nagel-Group donates EUR 50,000 to selected projects of the SOS Children\u2019s Villages. We are supporting five initiatives from different countries for the eighth time. SOS Kinderdorf is committed to improving the living conditions of socially disadvantaged children, young people and their families. With the Christmas donation 2022, the Nagel-Group supports projects in the Czech Republic with 20,000 euros, Germany and Hungary with 10,000 euros each and Denmark and Sweden with 5,000 euros each.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“The services offered by SOS Children’s Villages for young people and families are very important, and we are pleased to be able to make a contribution to this with our support,” said Marion Nagel, Chair of the Administrative Board of Nagel-Group. “The initiatives we support are offered in countries where we are represented ourselves. We have been supporting the work of SOS Children’s Villages for many years and we will again closely follow the implementation of this year’s projects. It’s nice to know that the money is getting to where it’s meant to go.”<\/p>\n

The donation followed a public vote. We asked customers, employees, and subscribers to Nagel-Group\u2019s social media sites to vote on our website for the projects that should receive particular support.<\/p>\n

Project from the Czech Republic receives strong support<\/strong><\/h3>\n

\"\"The initiative of SOS Children\u2019s Villages\u2019 SOS Slun\u00ed\u010dko crisis unit received EUR 20,000 in financial support for its project to help abused and neglected children.
\nThe COVID-19 pandemic and the desperate situation many disadvantaged families face have significantly increased the pressure on the SOS Slun\u00ed\u010dko crisis unit to care for neglected, malnourished, or abused children. On top of that, the crisis unit has lost government financial support due to recent legislative changes. As a result, the crisis unit is at risk of not being able to support all children in need of immediate help in the form of a safe place to stay, nutritious food, a warm bed, or other basic needs.<\/p>\n

Initiatives from Germany, Hungary, Denmark and Sweden are supported<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The projects from Germany and Hungary will receive a donation of EUR 10,000 each. The German initiative intends to use this support to finance a welfare lunch scheme. The scheme organised by the open family cafe offers guests meals at low prices. Children up to six years old get lunch for free. The cafe facilitates and encourages guests to develop healthy eating habits and socialise.<\/p>\n

The initiative from Hungary will use the donation for the \u201cEvery Day – Every Child – All the chance\u201d project. The donation will provide individual and group therapy to traumatised children to help them recover from their traumatic experiences.<\/p>\n

Denmark and Sweden will receive EUR 5,000 each. This sum will support the construction of new solar panels at the SOS Children\u2019s Villages in Buru Buru, Kenya, needed for the hot water supply, and the Swedish youth programme for refugee families in Gotheburg.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

1st place: Czech Republic<\/h3>

SOS Slun\u00ed\u010dko crisis centre for abused, neglected children<\/h4>

Due to the Covid 19 pandemic and the serious situation of thousands of disadvantaged families, the pressure to take in neglected, malnourished or abused children at the SOS Slun\u00ed\u010dko crisis centre has increased significantly. Recent changes in the law have eliminated state financial support for the crisis centre. As a result, there is a risk that not all children who need immediate help, such as a safe place to stay, nutritious food, a warm bed or other basic needs, can be helped.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

4th place: Denmark<\/h3>

New solar panels for the SOS Children's Village in Buru Buru<\/h4>

The homes in the SOS Children’s Village in Buru Buru, Kenya, need a renewal of their solar water heating systems. These solar systems are needed to provide hot water for caregivers and children in the family homes, which is especially necessary during the cold season.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>[\/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1\/3″]

2nd place: Germany<\/h3>

The SOS Children's Village Bremen has been caring for children, young people and young families in difficult social situations since 1975.<\/h4>

The open family caf\u00e9 is the heart of the SOS Children’s Village Centre supports families with low household incomes. The prices for dishes are calculated so that everyone can afford a meal at the caf\u00e9. Boys and girls up to 6 years of age have been getting a free lunch since this year. This way, they can learn social interaction with other people and develop their future eating habits.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

5th place: Sweden<\/h3>

Youth programme for refugee families in Gotheburg<\/h4>

This family strengthening programme evolved from the national youth programme. The aim of the programme is to counteract the exclusion of refugee families and to reunite families who have been separated from their unaccompanied refugee minors.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>[\/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1\/3″]

Every Child - Every Day - All the Chance<\/h4>

The vast majority of children living and growing up in the SOS Children’s Village are severely traumatised, physically and psychologically abused or starved.
\nThe precarious living situation caused by the virus, as well as the exclusion and distance from friends and biological parents, lead to fears in children and young people.
