Visionary: Kurt Nagel
(1962-2008)

On 16 February 2008, Kurt Nagel died suddenly and unexpectedly at the age of just 46. He had joined the company at the age of 20 and became the managing shareholder in 1985.

Kurt Nagel's professional legacy remains unrivalled. In just a few years, he turned his father's company, which was already a market leader in temperature-controlled food logistics in Germany, into a renowned European company which still remains family-owned. Kurt Nagel was a European visionary. His creation, the Nagel-Group with around 12,000 employees across Europe, is a testimony to this.

He was not only an “inspirational figure” who knew how to seize the moment, he was also a hard-working businessman. Over the course of two decades, he restructured the whole company in such a way that Kraftverkehr could position itself successfully in the German market while the Nagel-Group did the same in other European countries. To this day, the company owes its success to his far-sighted approach, his courage, and his incredible drive, which helped him accomplish great things in Europe.
