CALwms: over 1,000 warehouse customers use Nagel-Group’s warehouse software

CAL Consult B.V. has been developing tailored IT solutions for 25 years

Nagel-Group increases the efficiency of warehouse processes, relying on consistent digitalisation. IT specialists from CAL Consult Nederland B.V. support the food logistics company in its continuous drive to push ahead. The Dutch company is part of Nagel-Group and is responsible for optimising the processes between goods inwards and goods outwards with software solutions. The core component is the company’s own CALwms warehouse management system.

“Digitisation in warehousing continues to grow, more and more data are collected and can be processed digitally,” explains Arjan van den Breemer, Managing Director of CAL Consult. A powerful warehouse management system is therefore of great importance. As a specialist in contract logistics, Nagel-Group offers its customers comprehensive and tailored IT solutions designed and implemented by specialists from the Netherlands. More than 1,000 warehouse customers are now using CALwms – both within Nagel-Group and beyond.

Using the ideal process as the starting point

Every time we get a new warehouse project, the IT specialists of CAL-Consult work closely with the project managers from the  Logistics division of Nagel-Group. We always start with the same question: ideally, which processes does the customer need? Then we ask ourselves: how can these be implemented based on software? The Logistics specialists come in first and develop the best process for the customer, which is then brought to life technically by the IT experts.  “The teams work well together,” commends van den Breemer.

WMS can cover most processes in a standardised manner. And that is the whole point: the standardisation of processes. Example processes include stock putaway and removal, order picking, dispatch, and billing of the service. Moreover, the system can manage several warehouse locations simultaneously. We can tailor the software to match customer requirements, especially when it comes to the interfaces to the customer.

Programming interfaces individually

“Interfaces are usually configured or programmed individually,” explains van den Breemer. Around 5,000 of these interfaces have already been created to keep customers up to date at all times. How much stock is left? Have the goods already been picked? These data are then transmitted via EDI (electronic data interchange).

We install new processes in a test environment before we roll them out. “That way, we check all eventualities together with the customer and prepare everything as best as possible,” explains van den Breemer. We will only use the software in the warehouse once it is running perfectly in this environment. The IT specialists provide advice and assistance even after successful implementation.  Our international service desk is available at all times to ensure that customers receive the best possible support. We are with the customer until everything is working perfectly,” explains van den Breemer. Moreover, the system is constantly being developed and modernised.
